Hey all! If you play Victoria 3, then I have a question for you.

I just want to know how enjoyable it is compared to Victoria 2. I’ve played that game for a few hundred hours but never Vic 3. So what I want to know is, compared to Vic 2, how fun is Victoria 3?

I’ve played both and tbh i prefer 3 by a long mile.

It’s political system is far more realistic and flexible, and while there are some arguements for the Vic2 economy over 3, i still prefer 3.

I get why people have criticised the warfare system in 3, but lategame it is so much better not having to micromanage 100+ armies.

Vic3 is a great sandbox right now, but still feels a bit empty. With the warfare patch and some more specific flavors packs, it’ll be top-notch I think.

Vic 3 is fun, but some mechanics are unfinished. The game lacks a lot of polish. It feels a bit like an early access title right now. PDX had to rush it out the door so they are constantly making some pretty significant changes and addressing missing features.

    I haven’t played Vic 2 so I can’t compare.

What features do you feel are unfinished?

Warfare and diplomacy is the big one, but basically every mechanic in the game feels like it needs some amount of work still.

Also, every nation, regardless of culture, religion or government type plays the same - the only perceivable difference is access to resources for your economy. I tried playing large nations and small nations in every corner of the planet, and got pretty bored towards the end.

I decided that I won’t so much as look at Vicky 3 for at least two or three years, then give it another chance. Hopefully by then, it won’t be an empty canvas with just some of the corners painted in, like it is now.

The game’s got great potential, but it is mostly unrealized yet.

I haven’t made the 2 to 3 jump yet. I’m waiting for the war patch, which is coming decently quickly.

When I compared the warfare system of the two, Vic 2 felt better to me. Having actual control over your armies and stuff. Don’t know much about the war patch, that might make it more fun.
