Fun note: Model 3 is below $35k inflation adjusted now. I don’t think it’s a good buy yet but kinda funny that prices have dropped this far.
I have a model y but I know absolutely zero about cars or the market in general. I just bought mine because I knew the charging network was good and didn’t want to pay $5.50 for gas here in Washington. But you don’t think 35k for a new model 3 is good? In my uneducated opinion, I think that’s not too bad considering all the features it comes with and the tax credit. I came from a 2010 Corolla so this thing blows my mind every time I get inside it.
As a general question, have you had any issues with its construction? I’ve heard so many people say they aren’t well put together and have problems with like rattling noises and such.
Yeah so like i mentioned idk anything about cars. I don’t know any of the makers logos, I don’t anything about horsepower or v engines or whatever, always took my car to get my oil changed. So I don’t really have a discerning eye for that kind of stuff. I read a lot of those comments too when deciding what to buy, but I figured most of the people posting those opinions were hardcore car enthusiasts who look over everything with a fine toothed comb. For me the car looks good, I don’t hear any rattling while driving, and everything else works great. No qualms here.
I’m not sure about lemmy, but realtesla on reddit is pretty much /r/IHateTesla, so you have to assume people are anti-tesla when interacting here.
That is a very reasonable price for a model 3, especially if you can take advantage of the tax credit. It makes other electric cars offerings looks silly in comparison.
All of that said, it is still too expensive, and in the future the world needs more affordable electric cars.
An FYI: the bulk of RealTesla posters were forced to build our own community as we were systematically banned from the mainstream Tesla subs.
Anyone who has ever felt the need to say ‘I like my Tesla but…’ at the start of their posts instinctively knows what I mean. The pro-Tesla community is rabid. You get banned for the slightest criticism.
My goal here is to provide assurances that Tesla criticism doesn’t need such qualifiers or the need to virtue-signal your undying worship of Elon Musk (or Tesla) before or during criticism.
We are for Tesla discussion controlled by people outside the cult. Yes, this leads to anti-Tesla bias because when the mainstream subs ban anti-Tesla thought, the users will come here (or historically, to Reddit RealTesla). But it’s a bias I accept as unavoidable as long as the heavy-handed moderation and cult-building tactics of Tesla / Elon Musk’s reality distortion field exists.
Nope.
It’s obviously a compromised vehicle that has many cut corners for cheapness sake. The lack of windshield wiper stalks, odometer screen, or mechanical open/close handles are proof of that.
It’s a car designed to be as cheap as possible, and then a crappy CEO trying to tell you it’s got even a semblance of quality.
