The WSJ reports that Google started internally testing a new service called Playables, which allows users to play games on YouTube.
Feels like it’s going to end up like Stadia….
The technology of Stadia was always fine - the issue was the business model of charging people $60 for games they’d get questionable future access to. If they can tie it to some kind of live system like YouTube’s, that may be fine.
As YouTube was never ever profitable, they probably will not care if it takes off or not.
I was about to post that, it seems that I’ve already watched this movie.
I can’t remember where I saw it, but there was a quote a few years ago that said “Stadia is not the future of gaming, it’s the future of YouTube.” Looks like that prediction may have been accurate.
