Recently I started an interview process with a company. The recruiter told me the entire process consists of 6 interviews and a tech assessment over the span of 2-3 months and will involve travel to another state in the US for the final one. Shortly after starting I will have to travel to Israel (!!!) and Germany for “team integration”.

Sounds like an I am interviewing for a high level position, right? Nope. Mid level C++ developer (wanted a break from being a senior web developer).

Oh, did I mention I am currently unemployed?

Sounds intense for a mid-level position! It’s surprising how some companies have such prolonged and demanding interview processes. Traveling to another state and then to Israel and Germany for “team integration” is pretty crazy.

Do you think you’ll go through the whole process? What was the biggest reason you wanted to take a break from web development (and is C++ really a “break” 😂)? Have you encountered such extensive interview processes in the past or is this a first?

I wrote to this it security company, they send me the first reaction on my email after 2 months to invite me to an interview. I already had a new job at that point. I don’t know what they expected and why they couldn’t send me at least an acknowledgement of receipt.
