so true :) I was explaining my missus about the blackout and she thought that meant I will have more time(Reddit is top of my screen time) that I can use to do other things, little did she know that I’m going to be wasting it on Lemmy lol.

in fact, my excitement about lemmy has left me with even less time, the irony

Kinda getting ahead of myself here but if this place comes under attack (whether that’s in the form of a bot invasion, denial of service, etc.), we could call it the siege of Lemmingrad.

Me too… after 12+ years of being a Redditor, sad to see they ran it into the ground. Alas, onward and upwards…

Haha! It’s a lot less impressive than it seems, honestly. I’m originally from the US but spent most of my life bouncing back and forth between the states and different parts of the EU. I can pretty much guarantee you that if you live 3-4 years in a foreign country, you’ll learn the language. Repeat that five times and voila!

Glad to see Lemmy finally taking off. I’m honestly scared the Reddit admins will buckle. This is where everyone should be. We can make this place as great as Reddit and it will be even better due to the decentralized nature of the network.

I have been wanting a nice place on the internet with lots of users but still untouched by big companies. Lemmy came to answer my wish (:

It’s taken me a bit to get used to and get it setup, but I’m liking it more and more, the longer I’m on it :)

This is actually a genius idea on how to continue the protests after the 14th. Even if the blackout won’t last longer content creators should post content increasingly elswhere or additionally to reddit somewhere else and increase the viability of a replacement.

Funny enough, you’re one of the content creators by commenting! The comments and discussions were my favorite part of reddit and we’re bringing the comments with us over here to Lemmy!

Can we set up some Reddit bots that just comment on every post with a link to a Lemmy thread? Haha

It would mean more users in here so is a fantastic idea, too bad I don’t know how to create bots.

I’ve had a Reddit account for over 11 years and this feels like when i first found Reddit. It has that nice, friendly vibe.

I proped up a number of smaller subs from my RSS feeds. Happy to be here. :) I felt a stir in the wind a few months ago and found this place and started to set up shop. I deleted ten years of content during the AMA. I thought I’d be more sad but I felt great.

@Veritrax went for Mastodon myself but guess that’s what’s great about this. Thanks Reddit for introducing me to the Fediverse!

Same. I’ve seen other people say it, but this system of distributed, federated social networks feels like the real next generation internet. It reminds me of old school BBS and the irc servers I used to hang out on. It’s definitely a better solution than letting one company run everything.
