Actually, I am 3 months shy of being 66, live in California and love it, retired from an IT-ish job, own my home free and clear, not a friend of FB or Reddit, etc., and was looking for some kindred older (or younger) spirits.     Talking about boomers’ impact on our economy and global health is like talking about the male sexes’ impact on sexual harassment. Not all men are like that, but regardless, the problem remains.

    Nobody hates you for being 66 ( at least I don’t ) but that doesn’t mean your generation doesn’t have its problems and privileges.

    Good for you for being retired and owning a home, must be nice.

    It’s not just ageism. Lemmy attracts people with very strong, negative opinions on many things in the world. The active people here are generally poorly adjusted. It’s unfortunate because Lemmy is lovely but you’re going to need to block a lot of people and communities to enjoy it.
