So, I’m almost exclusively listening to deathmetal, deathcore and other kinds of extreme metal, but once upon a time I stumbled upon this song and since then Aesop Rock has found himself a permanent spot in my music library.

I haven’t found many other rap artists that I like but when it comes to Aesop there are few songs I dislike.

Check out Delton 3030. If you feel wild one day.

Del the Funky Homosapian and automater are generally great.

Busdriver is actually one of the few other rap artists I listen too. I LOVE Perfect Hair. Other than that I only have Rob Sonic and Hail Mary Marron on my playlist.

If it’s just the music you like, check out Blockhead he’s the person behind all the music for Aesop Rock.

I feel the same. I listen to mostly folk and like synth pop music, but I love basically everything from Aesop

      Glad you liked Aesop.

I came across his music while playing the game Freedom Finger. He’s got some great songs in it.

Hopefully I can get some death metal suggestions out of you. I have a few online friends who are really into the genre.

Nice, haven’t heard that one yet!

The genre is so huge, if you could tell me one band that your friends are into it would make suggesting stuff a bit easier haha.

Got a few songs out of them:

          • “Murder Mitten” by I See Stars
          • “Nocturnal Future” by The Word Alive
          • “Circles” by Dark Divine

Pig Destroyer, Headcage and Book Burner albums. Great videos for “The Diplomat” and “Army of Cops”

Then check out any Misery Index albums.

Misery Index/Napalm Death/Pig Destroyer fan of ugly music here and this song did the same thing for me. Plus the Biz Markee cross with Aseop is dope.

I suggest Damu the Fudge Monk. Hits the same way to me, but also his jazz hip hop with Archie Shep. It’s on band camp or what’s left of it.

Awesome in that case I will definitely check them out. Great taste as well, I usually veer more towards deathcore but I love me some Pig Destroyer and Misery Index. I’m also always open for deathmetal suggestions

Aes is one of my top 5 fav MC’s. Not sure how I missed this video being dropped, so thank you for sharing.

It looks like a chunk of the artwork for it was done by Jeremy Fish (who did the album art). He’s definitely worth checking out too

Big Bang will always be my favourite Aesop track.

“I rock Ready, Aim, Fire, while y’all rock Ready, Fire, Aim, / Then blame the stationary target as the prey escapes the frame”

Aesop Rock is a next level lyricist!

Song I also like, great samples: Aesop Rock - Oxygen (Official Lyrics) | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huJCXoVGErM

    https://genius.com/Aesop-rock-none-shall-pass-lyrics

In what is perhaps Aesop Rock’s most famous song, he attacks conformity in mainstream hip-hop, the political establishment, the schooling system and its role as gate-keeper and tool of the corporate world, and law enforcement.

    [Intro]

I’m— trust me, I’m— trust me, I’m trying to help

I’m— trust me, I’m— trust me, I’m trying to help

    [Verse 1]

    Flash that buttery gold

Jittery zeitgeist, wither by the watering hole, what a patrol

What are we to Heart Huckabee, art fuckery suddenly

Not enough young in his lung for the water wings

Colorfully vulgar poacher, out of mulch

Like, “I’ma pull the pulse out a soldier and bolt”

Fine, sign of the time we elapse

When a primate climb up a spine and attach

Eye for an eye, by the bog life swamps and vines

They get a rise out of frogs and flies

So when a dogfight’s hog-tied prize sort of costs a life

The mouths water on a fork and knife

    And the allure isn’t right

No score on a war-torn beach

Where the cash cow’s actually beef

Blood turns wine when it leak for police

    Like, “That’s not a riot; it’s a feast, let’s eat!”

    [Chorus]

And I will remember your name and face

On the day you are judged by The Funhouse cast

And I will rejoice in your fall from grace

With a cane to the sky, like, “None shall pass”

None shall pass, none shall pass

    [Verse 2]

Now, if you never had a day a snow cone couldn’t fix

You wouldn’t relate to the rogue vocoder blitz

How he spoke through a NoDoz motor on the fritz

‘Cause he wouldn’t play rollover fetch like a bitch

And express no regrets, though he isn’t worth a homeowner’s piss

To the jokers who pose by the glitz

Fine, sign of the swine in the swarm

When a king is a whore who comply and conform

Miles outside of the eye of the storm

With a siphon to lure out a prize and award

While avoiding the vile and bizarre that is violence and war

    True blue triumph is more

Like, "Wait, let it snake up out of the centerfold

Let it break the walls of Jericho, ready go"

Sat where the old, cardboard city folk

Swap tales with heads, like every other penny throw

    [Chorus]

And I will remember your name and face

On the day you are judged by The Funhouse cast

And I will rejoice in your fall from grace

With a cane to the sky, like, “None shall pass”

None shall pass, none shall pass

    [Interlude]

You tried, you tried, you tried to trick me

    You’ve got a, you’ve, you’ve got a, a lot of nerve

I’m, I’m not, I’m not, trying to trick you

I’m try, I’m try, I’m trying to help

    [Verse 3]

Okay, woke to a grocery list, goes like this:

    Duty and Death

Anyone object, come stand in the way

You could be my little Snake River Canyon today

And I ran with a chain of commands

And a jetpack strapped where the backstab lands if it can

Fine, sign of the vibe in the crowd

When I cut a belly open to find what climb out

That’s quite a bit of gusto he muster up

To make a dark horse rush, like, “Enough’s enough!”

It must’ve struck a nerve so they huff and puff

'Til all the king’s men fluster and clusterfuck

    And it’s a beautiful thing

To my people who keep an impressive wingspan

    Even when the cubicle shrink

You got to pull up the intruder by the root of the weed

    N.Y. Chew through the machine

    [Chorus]

And I will remember your name and face

On the day you are judged by The Funhouse cast

And I will rejoice in your fall from grace

With a cane to the sky, like, “None shall pass”

None shall pass, none shall pass

This is one of the only songs I’m willing to karaoke. Even reading the lyrics in your comment made me read along with it. The words flow so satisfyingly that it’s really easy, and always impresses. Great song and I usually find people adding it to their own libraries after hearing it the first time

Give it a shot! I have zero talent but it flows so well that all you need is a bit of breath control. It’s one of the few I can do simply because I’m so bad at every other song haha. I think you’ll find that it’s weirdly doable
