Schonhorst said it all happened within 45 seconds.

“At the time it seemed like eight, nine minutes," he said. “I mean, it was like time stopped. The scariest thing I can really remember is after those parents tackled him to the ground, he was still smiling.”

The parents who tackled him took his gun, Schonhorst said.

Still smiling? That’s creepy as hell. This guy sounds like an absolute psychopath. Also, good for those parents.

“The fact that he’s a police officer really is a pretty scary thought because who do we turn to now to protect our children?" Schonhorst said.

That’s an excellent question, and more people need to ask it more often - and then demand a satisfactory answer.

I mean, he’s not wrong. We are all going to die. Nobody gets out of this life alive. Having said that, his method to convey that message, seems a bit too much.
