tried plasma a year back and gave up because I couldn’t get the above setup to work (annoying lines appearing while typing) on three different laptops (125, 133, 150%). there was supposedly a fix (increasing line spacing) but that didn’t work for me. just checking in to see if some workaround came to light? thanks.

This is patched afaik, but if you find that it’s still happening you should open a BR.
You don’t have to use konsole, imo konsole is not the best Terminal out there.

      Which terminal do you recommend?

Well I think konsole is pretty great to be honest, but my favorite is wezterm so that’s worth a try if you need something else.

sure, I guess you’re right, seems silly to discard Plasma as a whole because one app is acting out, but I like the whole concept of getting everything and the kitchen sink and not installing alternatives and thus polluting the experience.

I’ve seen a closed bug report that’s been active for years claiming it’s fixed, but that’s blatantly false.

I’m not taking about some tweaking and burning the default config - install latest debian or fedora or manjaro, the DE automatically switches to e.g. 125% and there’s the dancing stuff in every konsole window I open, on every laptop I’ve tried it.

This One? if you look at the bottom you can see a plethora of patches. Still, if it’s continuing to be a problem for you, you must report it with the appropriate information if you want it to get patched.
This bug clearly doesn’t effect that many users, and some have reported it’s fixed for them.
So it’s important you make some noise.
