Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Didn’t realize it was a long weekend until about half way through the week. Partners out for most of the day and I’m looking forward to getting a lot of admin done today.

First stop is to go out and take a physical look at both the Kobo Clara 2E & Kindle Paperwhite E-Readers to try and make a decision.

This morning I found a camera tucked away in the bottom of a drawer. It had no batteries but the memory card was still in it and I have no recollection of ever having bought it.

There are a grand total of 7 photos on it, including one of a random tree for no apparent reason. They’re all dated the same day in 2015 so… I guess I kinda scored myself an old-but-unused camera. The thing I love the most about it is that it has actual buttons! They make clicky noises and everything! None of this newfangled touch nonsense that’s impossible to use with gloves or fat fingers.

Man I love this time of year - out of the grim misery of winter, lots of birds being noisy, stuff getting green again, no freezing my ass off getting up in the morning or getting out of the shower. It’s so nice.

You and me both. It’s that nice balance of not being cold in the morning and pleasantly warm afternoons. Being able to have the morning coffee in the backyard in the early morning watching everything growing is so enjoyable.

Hot day today. Tuis screeching out in the garden, and my Kale has already bolted. Bummer - It’s only the first half of spring… but I don’t mind.

My stepdad has just been carried away by St. John’s, after having a fall yesterday. He was too stubborn to go to the hospital at first. Spent the night keeping an eye on him in the living room, then went back to bed at 7am, just before the ambulance arrived. Awful as it sounds, this means that my mum is finally allowed some time off work, and we can watch movies together.

Now that I see it - life is really short, and really dangerous. I’ve thought about testing my boat hulls out by the local Waipa river, and sailing them all the way to Port Waikato, to save money on hauling expenses. Or hooking it up to an autonomous navigation system, and controlling it using 4G or 5G mobile internet. No more excuses this time - you only live once!
