There is still no end in sight for the high-stakes speakership battle after House Republicans ousted Kevin McCarthy more than two weeks ago.

The search is on for a new GOP speaker nominee after Rep. Jim Jordan on Friday became the latest exit from the race, and it’s already shaping up to be a crowded candidate field.

Frustrations and divisions have only intensified within the conference as Republicans search for a way to resolve the impasse. That, along with the GOP’s narrow majority, has made it increasingly unclear whether any candidate will be able to secure the 217 votes needed to win the gavel on the House floor.

If we don’t have a functional government by the end of the week we need to take to the streets. Why should we pay taxes when they won’t do anything for us?

Isn’t it the better of two evils with a non-functional GOP government than a highly functional one? I would just bring the popcorn.

I think you have too low a bar for your government. I prefer zero evils and am not content to allow little evils to exist for amusement.

And you think you’ll achieve this by protesting in the streets until GOP selects a new speaker. Good luck.

My bar is set fairly high for my government, just not for the American one.

Democrats can always vote for the most liberal republican. Then only 4 more need to peel off and we come as close as we can to a coalition government.

At this point they should be wearing Joker masks. Who could have guessed the party that proudly declared themselves domestic terrorists would sabotage the country?

They should put the clown music on every time they come up for a vote. Would be fitting for how much of a clusterfuck the Republican party is right now.

And they were supposed to be the “united” ones…

Republicans can’t help but constantly fuck things up. This is pathetic. No speaker of the house? Fuck it, move on. Why do we have to do it this way? I say they forfeit having a house speaker. Fuck all those inept children that can’t agree.
