Running man is like Robocop, total recall and starship troopers. They’re movies that on the surface just seem like action movies, but are pretty deep social commentaries. Running man was a pretty good look at the mix of America’s craving for violence and reality tv, as well as the a justice system so out of control that people are getting literally forced to compete to death in gladiatorial battle
And I feel like Squid Game captured the modern version of that zeitgeist.
