Back from the hospital after the PET scan to see if the cancer has been completely expunged. Results to be discussed with doctor on Wednesday. Am still high as a kite on the anti-anxiety meds they gave me when putting in the cannula. Early night tonight, so as to limit the amount of time I spend chewing my fingernails down to the elbow.

I had this dream that a young man had died but fortunately, you could be cloned on the event of your death. Everyone had been told that the new clone would take some time to adjust and memories to awaken, but after some initial tests I was sent home.

The family saw me as their son, but my memories were not coming as easily as I was told they would. The young man had set traps, clearly “he” didnt trust “Me”. If i tried to turn on “my” computer it would ask for a password, then fake format itself if I didnt get the sequence right. I saw “I” had a apple watch, but when I asked about “My” phone I got given an old qwerty nokia that was locked. Asking pop culture questions I’m told I should know, but I didn’t. Math ciphers I’m told “I” used to love that meant nothing to me.

I couldn’t get on an unrestricted device to access the internet to research myself or who I was supposed to be. “My” siblings were growing suspicious (who look exactly like MY real life sibling), but “his” parents accepted me regardless. But all the while a name is ringing in my head. My name. And its becoming increasingly apparent throughout this whole ordeal that they’ve given this poor family a body with the wrong mind in it, MY mind.

And man, I would totally read that book or watch that TV show. Whole thing preys on this desire for a new beginning, but when I woke up I’ve never been so happy to be me! 10/10 dream, well done subconscious.

Just heard from Subaru and I pick up the new car Thursday morning. They’re doing an exterior paint and interior protection thing on it as well as getting the roadworthy so it needs a few days apparently. Not quite the “early next week” they said but I’ll live.

Sometimes it is hard being in a multi-lingual household. I just accidentally said “woof” to the cat.

So, things have been going well at work. They like me, they’re supportive and encouraging, it’s very welcoming and well-managed. I like the job itself, like being a mini-project manager. It’s quite rewarding and I am really quite enjoying it.

But they’re all racists. My manager voted No because “those rich abos don’t need any more help they get more assistance than I do. Bludging off the dole, being an utter nuisance on the roads up north”. Everything else is perfect, but I feel like a monkey paw somewhere just made a fist and shook it in my face.

    Fuck.

It’s a difficult situation, been there myself. There’s always at least one loudmouth bigot in any job. Calling them out is not always possible, especially when they’re your boss. His comment about “rich abos…bludging off the dole” makes no sense. Nobody gets rich off the dole.

Having been in the unfortunate position of being stuck listening to a few loudmouthed bigots at work myself, I believe the full scenario they have invented involves both an idea that the government hands out free houses and other things on top of the dole, combined with the idea that “those people” are inherently different and don’t need or want as much, so they can be considered “rich” if they live in a house and have running water. Whereas the bigot of course considers themselves to be a different class of person who really should have been born into a rich family (maybe royalty) and considers themselves to be hard done by because they don’t have servants.

60% of people voted no, so you’re gonna find them in every single workplace. Some are just more vocal than others.

Final day off before I start the new job tomorrow, so naturally it’s pjs on the couch with maybe a little light cleaning in-between.

This might just be placebo, but my carpet ‘feels’ cleaner walking around on it since I vacuumed with the new filter. I also got some of that vanilla scented powder stuff to sprinkle on it before vacuuming which has added a very subtle vanilla aroma to the apartment. Is nice.

I’ll take “Things Bull aged 15-25 never thought he’d be excited about” for $200, Alex.

I’m always amazed how much better my house smells after a good vacuum. I don’t think it smells bad before, but then notice the difference afterwards. Dust must be stinky

I actually hate carpet and I truly think it’s the most unhygienic floor covering out there.

The entire floor or just a specific place? If it is a specific spot there could be an issue there you are not aware of. I had a dog who was obsessed with a corner of the window frame, it turned out there was some rotten wood. She pretty much destroyed a section until all the rotten wood had been removed, then lost interest (and then I had the window repaired, there was an issue with the flashing that allowed water to get through).

Scraping his teeth on 2 spots. I’ve tried putting Vicks Vapordrop ointment on it but it seems to wear off and he has another go. I’d put a rug down but he ate a hole in my doormat rug last week….

Try putting a citrus scent around that area. Should deter your dog, hopefully for awhile. Hopefully doesn’t go to another spot after that.

A terrible tragedy has befallen the Raven household. The Halloween cat scratcher box arrived, but it is missing the roof!

Miss Meow is going to be terribly disapointed.

That was my first thought, but it’s a bit too tall for her to jump in, I think. I’ve had an emergency arts/crafts session and have now added a roof. She’s still napping, so I’ll have to wait until later to see if she approves.

sksksks awful lot of people lining up to tell me explicitly how much they don’t care about me not giving a shit about their opinions in that nazi thread. I haven’t had so much fun telling people to go fuck themselves in years

the thread on banning the nazi salute went viral. At first the OP and I didn’t realise, and we both made remarks on gee, awfully suspicious amounts of comments suddenly appearing on this for 1am-9am on a Sunday.

Cue an absolute cavalcade of I Am Very Smart posters, accusations of trumpism and general what the absolute living fuck are you on about. And of course since it’s flared up, ton of other dipshits joining in trying to tell victorians that it was a response to dictator dan (wat) and claims that by banning nazis you become the true nazis but uh, last I checked nope, the true nazis are the actual nazis and fuck’em.

Umbrage is being taken. People do not like the fact that I do not give a shit what they think about how we ban nazis and are very very intent on me knowing how little they care about me not caring for their opinions. And the entire time I continue not to give a single shit and they are getting so mad about it.

        It’s marvelous.

That post still going on? I almost responded to your comment to say that 1am for you is only 10pm for me. But then I realised there were a lot more responses than usual after all - not just me.

Yah, even factoring in the most western states woulda been pushing it to make that many comments on a Saturday night - especially this time of year.

But apparently it’s done the lemmy equivalent of landing on main, so the rabble are massing. Lotta bad faith actors. And jackasses.

Well the point of the UN is to get people yelling at each other rather than starting world wars and to provide humanitarian aid. They do pretty well on the whole, if the fucking US would just stop vetoing.

Russia is a permanent member of the security council. Russia. The country currently invading Ukraine, who undermined US elections, who shot at a nuclear power plant and dug trenches at Chernobyl, who sow the seeds of discontent at every chance they get. Russia. Yeah the US vetoing aint the problem here.

You do realise a thing can have more than one problem, and i ain’t running a competition here, right?

Anyway if the UN were valueless, the pissy big boys wouldn’t be so keen on having their voice heard there.

Yeah the UN is not stopping wars if Ukraine/Russia and Palestine/Israel is anything to go by. Let’s not forget poor little Armenia. And if we are lucky we might get a bonus China/Taiwan war. The only thing stopping war right now is the expense and the prospect of losing.

an ash tray on a motorcycle would at least look cool. The UN is as useful as an umbrella during a tornado.

Made an excuse to not go office today and had such a good day. Mandatory Monday office days are evil. Can’t wait to be done with this job. After they essentially told me to look for another job, it’s been pretty awkward. I feel on the outer already, and being in the office just makes me sad that this job didn’t work out.

Now I’m trying to decide between another FT role or doing freelance work for a bit. Found a place that already want to sign me on as a contractor and sounds like they have a fair bit of available work. I love the sound of freedom to work as I want, but letting go of guaranteed money, leave etc is very hard to do.
