How did the invasion start and hows it going?
Me: You should have specified which invaders OP, but yeah my first experience was based on others experiences. My dad said he would see weird stuff in the middle of the night driving near old highway 58 and Zyzxx. Turns out all those leaks of human and alien collaboration in the mountains out there were true. And that the soldiers got pissed when they found out human abductions and experimentation were going on. The first reported battle happened there when a group of soldiers stormed the levels the abductees were stored at. They used energy weapons that mimicked microwave energy burns and I remember hearing about them much later when all those spies abroad were coming down with Havana Syndrome. When people figured out how to reverse engineer those weapons, that’s when shit hit the fan. We had crossed the Rubicon as a species, and they were coming now to prevent us from continuing our breakthroughs. And they’re not completely wrong, they were afraid we would use them for war and we did…but expecting complete and utter fealty to them because they lended a hand in creating us. Yeah that was never gonna end well, and they slept on us out in space while we struggled and evolved the rest of the way on our own.
We’d had enough time to figure out at minimum how to mess up their electronics, accidentally during atomic bomb tests in the 50s or from reverse engineering. And so they were gobsmacked by the time their mothership arrived, because they realized they should have brought more backup on their multi-year long trip when they expected us to just completely give in to them with no pushback. We defended ourselves and to prevent the rest of the motherships from turning Earth into a galactic highway, the Galactic Federation stepped in and we laid out our case to the galaxy. There were rules of course, but after dealing with the nondemocratic nations and establishing new UN charters for how the free energy is going to be dispersed, we finally hit all the checks required to join and of course there are those who don’t want us there, violently.
Not too sure how I feel about this one. It reads like a journal entry describing these events instead of a story taking place during them. It is a way to tell stories, though I’m personally not a fan because it’s hard to attach myself to what’s going on. Is this part of a larger series? There’s a lot of neat ideas going on in here, and the plot points and events that occur sound really cool to read more about.
Pretty much was posted as a reddit/lemmy comment as if after the fact. Though I’ll admit it’s more a summary of leaks irl put together and hastily written as if it was a comment reply in a thread.
Edit: also the OP comment on the invasion was in response to myself not the actual thread prompt 😅
