I left the country and all my gear behind last year. I hope to get back into it next year, when I get my gear back. In the meantime I’ll be lurking here.

Sorry to hear about your gear. I too used v.5.x until I made the jump to CB11 and CB12 Pro. Glad to have you with us and looking forward to your input. Have a wonderful day / night wherever you may be.

Thanksnfor the welcome! At least my gear isn’t lost; just in storage while I sort out my new home country. I dabbled a few years back with demos of v11 and enjoyed myself, but man, the learning curve when you take years-long breaks is rough.

I suffered those same learning pains as well. And, trust me I am no expert. Not by a long shot. Youtube has been a huge help. Especially Greg Ondo and the folks on the YT Cubase channel. The live Zoom meets on the last Friday of every month are a blast. We get to talk about anything and everything. Does not have to be CB related in fact. Drop in some time. If you have a few minutes check out tomorrow’s live stream. I believe that I posted the URL in one of my posts. Have a great Thursday. Peter

I went from C5 to C8 then jumped to C12.

The effects are night and day difference.

The instruments are night and day difference. In C5 you don’t even have Halion Sonic. Now there is HS7 with a lot of useful sounds and patterns (flexphrase). The drum machine is very useful.

Recording and “comping” has been made really easy since C5.

Mixing and mastering has a whole ton of options and processing tools now. Visual loudness with LUFS measurements is now an essential part of mixing (at least for me). Non existent in C5 and even C8.

There is a lot of new bells and whistles too, like chord track and chord pads. I don’t use them much but I can see them being very useful for some.

Learning curve is higher with C12. Definitely download and take a look at the 2 sample projects that come with C12. Very useful for learning how some of the pros do things with C12. I wish they had more sample projects for users to download.
