EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - You may not like baseball, but one Evansville man with special needs says he lives for it.

Evansville? Or 11 year olds? Gotta keep 'em out of trouble somehow…

Oh, it’s kids. That makes more sense.

Although I’d expect the state to be forcing them to work in factories or pump out more kids by now.

Yeah, he had been a bat boy for a team of 10 year olds, which folded for some reason, now he’s bat boy for a team of 11 year olds.

The 10-year-olds probably all turned 11.

The article is poorly written, but refers to a kids team. Evansville does have a pro baseball team, though. The Evansville Otters. They play in the Frontier league, and have been champions twice since starting the team in 1995. They play at Bosse Field, one of the oldest baseball parks in the country. They shot “A League of Their Own” there, actually. Last time I was there (late 90s), it was still decorated as it was in the movie, as the park would have been in the 40s/50s. Amazing place to see a game!

I lived in Evansville during high school and college. Otters games are fun, largely because the stadium is such a cool venue. It’s really small but definitely gives you a classic baseball kind of vibe.

Fun fact about league of their own: Madonna HATED Evansville and apparently was very outspoken about wanting to leave as quickly as possible. Having spent some of my formative years there, I get it.

I feel like I must have known that at some point in time, but like most of my time from living in Evansville, it’s been blocked from my long-term memory.

I can understand that. I grew up in Western Kentucky, and Evansville was where we went for fun…yeah, my hometown was pretty dull. 😂 Hope you are in a better place and in happier times now, friend!

My body is falling apart but I’m on the West Coast making a heck of a lot more than minimum wage
