I don’t know if it would make sense for them to ever make Dark Souls 4 since Elden Ring is the more popular franchise and they’re probably going to stick with open world going forward. But I think it would be pretty sweet if they made a remake of Dark Souls with an open world or something.

    The story of Dark Souls concluded. I feel like it would be weird to continue after the series took us to the literal end of time.

    I would love to see a sequel to one of their other properties like Bloodborne, Elden Ring, or Sekiro.

      A prequel to Bloodborne would be amazing. These theories of exploring ancient Pthumerian civilisation in the desert sound so cool. Or a prequel to Sekiro where you play as Tomoe would be really cool too.

  • I don’t know if they’ll continue Elden Ring or do something different.

    Weren’t they not even super into sequels for Dark Souls, but felt like they had to?

      Just left a comment saying the same thing. Miyazaki doesn’t like sequels and now that he is president of from software I don’t think we will be getting many sequels other than armoured core .

    I would personally love to see another game in the style of Bloodborne. Maybe not a direct sequel but a different project in the same universe. That game was the pinnacle of Soulsborne games for me.

    Honestly, I’m not sure. I haven’t played DS2-3, but wasn’t the trilogy pretty much finished? Not really sure where they’d take the story at this point.

    Elden Ring was quite divisive in its open-world approach, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they incorporated more open worlds in their upcoming games. I wouldn’t mind too much, but I prefer more focused experiences like Sekiro and Bloodborne to super open ones.

    Edit: Thinking about it again, there could very well be another Dark Souls installment somewhere down the line. Considering Elden Ring’s success and the fact that DS, more or less, brought FromSoft on the map of contemporary gaming, another DS game could be quite popular. The influx of new gamers trying Elden Ring surely would try their hands on a new DS game.

      Personally I’m not a fan of the open world part; the best parts of Elden Ring for me are the legacy dungeons and boss fights.

    I don’t think we’ll ever see new Dark Souls content… Maybe a remake like Demon Souls in the future, but they wouldn’t change the level layouts. They could make it absolutely stunning tho, I’d loooovvvee to see Anor Londo again with better graphics 🥰

    The creator of dark souls has stated that he doesn’t like making sequels and dark souls 2 and 3 where made before he became president of from software . So I wouldn’t expect dark souls 4 or Elden ring 2 . Or Bloodborne 2 despite the many articles about it .

    If Bloodborne II doesn’t come out. I will be depressed for the rest of my life. And no, it doesn’t need to be open world. The beauty of Dark Souls was linear, interconnected spaces that felt open, and gave a sense of a larger world. Just my opinion.

    I could maybe see a return to Dark Souls at some point way in the future, more like a soft reboot or expanded reimagining of 1 to cash in on the name. I don’t think it’ll happen for a long time though, similar to the big gap between RE4 and its remake, or the upcoming MGS3. I also doubt Miyazaki would be the project leader since he prefers to try new things.

    IMO part of the appeal of Souls games is piecing together the lore and background of the world, and the DS trilogy exhausted a lot of that. People want more of the same because it feels comfy and familiar, but the lore was designed to have gaps and there’s only so much they can add before it starts to feel like bloat. I’d prefer to see fresh experiences each time, but would love to see a return to the puzzle+trap level design of DeS/DS1 and more heavy, deliberate combat.
