I tired this pack called “Cottage Witch” on Steam Deck with a few extra mods such as Controllable and Distant Horizons and it seems to be a good enough experience. Unfortunately I have to throttle my system to have decent battery life - otherwise it would only last for 100 minutes. With throttling and reducing the frame rate to what I would expect from my “gaming PC” it would last for 3.5 hours.

Steam Deck has an option for controller control customization. The Steam Deck has two touch pads and L4, L5, R4, and R5 buttons. Most importantly, the touch pads on the Steam Deck and the touch pad on the PlayStation 4/5 controllers can be configured to use a radial wheel for those excess keybinds that I still need quick access to.

For those keybinds I don’t need quick access to, I can open a virtual keyboard. Unfortunately not all keys on the keyboard are accessible using the virtual keyboard. A major failing of the Steam Deck operating system is that it crashes sometimes when I use the virtual keyboard, bringing down the game session with it. That’s why I don’t use the virtual keyboard these days. So there goes the convenience of typing in characters to find items I want to craft in Just Enough Items. In fact I had my spells on the mod pack have very vague one letter names from the radial wheel option. It may be fixed however, but I’m not sure because no news articles about the keyboard crash has popped up so it might not be well known.
