My main question is this: Is it worth switching to Ubuntu Pro? Actually I see it’s free for personal use on one computer.

I’d be curious to hear the experience of those of you who switched, and also the motivation of those who didn’t switch.

This question is partly related to another one: I’d like to economically support Linux in general and Ubuntu in particular. Would switching to Ubuntu Pro (and paying) help in this regard? Or which other ways of supporting are out there?

(As you understood, I’m somewhat of a newbie in the Linuxverse.)

Actually, it’s for five devices per pro user.

I think Ubuntu Pro is mainly for people who don’t want to switch to new releases very often. I think most people would prefer new features to not having to adjust every 4 years.

When I want to give Ubuntu money (tbh only did once, when I installed it on the notebook I am currently using), I just donated something at the form which appears when you download it, https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop/thank-you#contributions-form

Thank you for the clarification, I’m still confused about what “Pro” really offers. And also for the donation link!

Pro essentially offers 10 years of updates instead of 5. Also, you can install some kernel security patches without restarting.

The services are listed in https://ubuntu.com/pro - IMHO nothing relevant for end users there, it’s mostly for enterprises where any downtime is really expensive. But for normal users, rebooting every once in a while shouldn’t hurt too much IMHO.

Cheers. I plan to update the distribution version regularly, so I understand Pro is not of interest to me either.

There are also updates to 23,000 applications from Universe repository that don’t usually get updates. At least that’s what’s claimed.
