Hey Dads. Dad here.
My daughter is two. She started going through a big time “dad phase” shortly after our 1 month old was born. Understandable. But she hasn’t been letting mom do her hair like she usually does. I thought now would be a good time for me to learn. Any tips or tutorials that you’ve found especially helpful?
Her hair isn’t insanely long. But her bangs definitely block some of her vision. We usually try to do pig tails or a pony tail. But I’m open to getting creative.
I have zero experience with girls’ hair, for what it’s worth.
We cut our girls bangs so they weren’t in her eyes, and then just comb the rest to the sides. It looks good for about 5 minutes before it’s messed up again. I’m far from an expert, but we found pigtails not worth the effort. Maybe get mom to give you some techniques, as I know my hair and my daughters are very different, so what I normally do for combing doesn’t work well for her.
You can always use those hair clips, at least to get the hair out of her eyes. There are some that snap or you can get the clip ones that open and close with light pressure.
Usually we go with a ponytail but sometimes my daughter request bunnies, which is like two mini ponytails on the top/side, but folded down, so it makes a little loop. She loves it. Maybe ask her what she wants? Mine is 2-1/2 and she is very vocal about her hair now.
I haven’t learned all the fancy braids yet, wife is working on teaching but there are some good youtube videos you could check out to learn as well.
