Well given that Ukraine needs weapons, and Israel is a weapon supplier, and Palestine famously doesn’t have any weapons to supply externally. Their incentives are to side with Israel. Hell, I would too. I need those weapons more than I need a clean moral compass.
Though I don’t think it’s very controversial to say Hamas is a terrorist organization. Their actions are clearly designed to terrorize. I don’t see Ukraine getting any benefit from not calling them a terrorist organization…
My understanding, which is limited, but this war is between the Israeli government and Hamas. As always, the innocent get murdered.
Edit: I misspoke and wasn’t referencing properly, but I’m not altering it to preserve the flow of discussion.
This article is about Ukraine designating Hamas as a terrorist organization, which is a political action, and needs to be contextualized in the larger politics of their current relationships and needs vs the world political stage.
War needs trump everything else - if Satan himself was providing artillery ammunition served on sewage rail cars, they would smile and happily tell everyone that Heaven is over rated.
I misspoke. I wasn’t responding to the article. I was referencing only the war in the Middle East. The invasion of Ukraine by Putin seems clear. Russia has been trying to commit genocide in Ukraine for a while now. Long before Putin. I do not fault anyone for defending their home.
That’s not the reason, the reason is ideological. Ukraine is a democracy, Hamas was elected in 2006. Israel is an ally of the US, Hamas gets support from Russia and Iran
The lines have already been painted
Would make sense to designate both Hamas and the Israeli government as terrorists.
