A: So a few years ago I started a server on the internets that was designed to allow people to comment on each other’s posts, and be generally pretty awesome.
Well, after the server took off and got really popular and made me pretty rich, I decided that we needed to capitalize on some other developers using our site to make money, so I decided to start charge them every time they use my server. It’s a totally reasonable thing to do! But now they’re all mad at me! What am I supposed to do, since I’m beholden to a bunch of VCs and I’ve got an IPO and everything, I got to make them dolla dolla bills y’all.
Could use some advice.
TL;DR Changed a setting on my server, now people are mad. lul
Have you tried doubling down?
Don’t forget to shit on the devs that made your desktop and mobile experiences better than the official ones you put out
and then whine that all the advertising $$ you’re bringing in is subsidising someone else’s business, as if that’s suddenly come as a shock
Hey, I deserve some of that moolah that they’re raking in. They’re all millionaires because of my servers.
Well shit… no I didn’t! GREAT IDEA! <3
Make sure you slander some 3rd party dev while your at it … people on your site will love that.
Noted. Anyone in particular?
If really Spez my ban trigger finger is itching If not spez then Rule #2.
But meh, I’m inclined to allow this shitpost 😛
Yeah, this one gave me a laugh. Imma let him chill.
I think the logical response is to burn down everything you created and alienate the people that built it up to be successful.
That’ll lure in the investors.
What worked for hedge funds must work for tech companies too!
Make sure you gaslight them all by telling them it’s all about them. People love being gaslit.
