More keeb vendors closing shop. This is a rough time for the keyboard community.

Thanks for the heads up. Based upon his communications on a previous drop and getting rid of it at cost I knew it was not going to end well. Sad it has come to this since it was a very unique vendor communications wise.

Yeah, Erik seemed like a cool enough guy, but at the end of the day, no matter the reason this is still an exit scam. I think it might be time for me to step away from keyboards for a few years again.

It seems to go in these cycles so I definitely don’t do drops anymore. It’s not worth it. I find doing the projects with small batches of custom pcbs and off the shelf components much more interesting these days.

Good. They took my money and never sent me anything, never responded to emails. Hope their next business fails too.

I guess Erik has been having health problems. Cannot confirm but that’s what it says in the post. I got screwed by Mechs & Co personally so I get the anger. I’ve only ordered from MKUltra once and luckily received the switches I ordered. I hate what’s happening in the community currently.

I mean health problems are sad of course. But from my perspective, I’ve been scammed. I paid money and never received a product.

Been ordering from this shop for years, way back when he was cutting foam himself with a cheap laser cutter. He leveled up with the rise of the hobby, bought an industrial cutter from China. China did what China does, fucked him, the machine didn’t work. Fucked the store up for a good while (I’m sure some of you remember the delay in foam), he eventually found someone to cut the foam in Asia and that worked out well.

Seems some GBs didn’t go well for him either, though I hear designers were also flakes.

Basically, dude made a proper go, things didn’t work as planned. Now it kinda sounds like he is terminal, or at least sick enough that things like exits scams are probably the last of his worries.

Rough situation. And more stores will be closing I’m sure, this won’t be the last. Still sucks to see. What other store would commission a freaking X-Files deskmat other than MKUltra? What I really loved was the conspiracy notes included with each order.

I mean, what do you expect? There’s way too many keyboard shops already and 80% of them barely have any stock with everything being a group buy or pre-order

Do what you like, I’m just voicing my opinion.

While it’s a nice thought, I’m not the king of the internets

I get that Reddit bad. I just thought it was strange to gatekeep the Fediverse like that. I’m just trying to provide information to those no longer on Reddit. I myself do not spend time on Reddit since the api bullshit but it’s still the main info hub for the keyboard community and I didn’t feel the need to copy and paste the entire post.

I get it and I was just voicing my own feelings. I don’t click on Reddit links anymore. Also I don’t think it fosters discussions here, more just directs people to Reddit.

But that’s just my opinion - and it’s no more valid than yours.

Sorry I was rude, it’s a bad habit.
