Before his untimely October 28 death, Perry’s plan was to start a foundation to help others overcome drug and alcohol abuse. “When I die, I don’t want ‘Friends’ to be the first thing that’s mentioned — I want helping others to be the first thing that’s mentioned. And I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that,” Perry was quoted previously as saying, adding “Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down.”

I’m really glad that this will be his legacy.

His auto-biography in 2022 was poorly written and left a really bad taste in many people’s mouths. His views were extremely out of touch and honestly, I thought that Chandler Bing would go the way of other sitcom celebs that faded away into irrelevance.

So seeing the world feel sad for his death and these moments of positive events post death makes me happy.

It was a noble goal, I guess.

That’s not what I meant. The first thing mentioned when he died was Friends. This is the second thing I’ve seen mentioned, helping people. So although he didn’t get what he wanted, having the first thing mentioned be about helping people, having it be the second thing mentioned is pretty darned close to what he wanted.
