There were no post on this instance, so I decided to start. 20 year music teacher here. I hope all teachers can vent, learn, and celebrate each other here.
Hopefully we can get a community up and running here. Science teacher of 10 years here. I’ve always taught in small rural districts where I’m the entire science department, so I’ve relied a lot on online communities to bounce ideas off other teachers and to get advice.
I’ve been in small urban districts. I thought the reddit community, though understandable, was a little negative. I now we can be supportive here.
I’ll add a comment here so you get some activity - where do you as a community and individual draw the line for a teacher. Passed a teaching qualification, working in a school, tutoring outside of a school? What’s your thoughts.
My opinion is we are all teachers. Some people just have skills to teach many at once and those people do it for pay and society.
In speaking with others that get paid at different levels in the profession, I describe myself as certified.
I only get mad when people that have had no real experience teaching some one else or a large group anything, that think it simple.
