Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis suggested that he would eliminate a number of government agencies during an interview on Wednesday.  “Are you in favor of eliminating any agencies? I know conservatives in the past have talked about closing the Department of Education, would you do that?” Fox News’s Martha MacCallum asked the Florida governor on […]

DeSantis was positioned to be the Trump alternative for the Republicans. If he kept his views moderate with the general election in mind he could have been the sane GOP candidate that could have possibly united GOPers that understand that Trump is a guilty pleasure that loses elections. Thankfully, DeSantis is a moron and has Trump’s habit of doubling down on losing ideologies, even when the ship is clearly sinking. It appears that when your party is based on rejecting facts and reality your candidates are similarly empty-headed.

So we would just be living in a country where taxes aren’t collected for anything? Why even have a country?

There was a brief period after the us got it’s independence where taxes were basically voluntary. As you can imagine, it was not a sustainable government

He says he’d move to a single rate system, which while simplified may be better than what we have now, it is still not good for the average person.

20% of my salary feels like a hell of a lot more of my paycheck than a CEO with a million a year.

For a person at 100k, they’re left with 80k. For a person with 1M, they’re left with 800k, still well above everyone else.

And that’s assuming DePuddin Fingers doesn’t put in any loopholes for his rich oligarchy friends.

I would support a simple system if it was a progressive rate as it is today. A flat single rate is always punitive to the poor.

Reduce the total rates and eliminate all deductions. Then it could be pretty reasonable to eliminate significant portions lf the IRS, only after income reporting is fully automated.

What fascist wouldn’t want to consolidate power. I’m sure he would dissolve as many government agencies, and compromise as many gov branches as possible. DeSantis would be so much worse than Trump, they’re both fascists but DeSantis actually knows what fascism is.
