What is LitRPG? LitRPG, short for literary role-playing game, is a subgenre of fiction that combines the conventions of computer role-playing games (RPGs) with traditional narrative plotlines. LitRPG stories often feature protagonists who are transported into a virtual world or who are playing a video game that is so immersive that it feels like they are living in another world. The stories typically focus on the protagonist’s progress as they level up, gain new skills, and battle monsters. LitRPG stories often include detailed descriptions of game mechanics, such as character statistics, skill trees, and inventory systems.
