It works for all those who are disabled now, but not for any who become disabled in the future. Society lets any progress we’ve made in accessibility lapse, and the next generation has to fight the last century of battles that the community has won all over again. No ramps, no textured or audible crosswalks, no fluent braille users to learn from, and even less patience and understanding from everyone else.

The blind sees the other world, the deaf hear it’s inhabitants and the mute talk their language. A New cult is born.

I would watch this as a dystopian sci fi horror.

Every person healed “takes” their sense from someone who had it. ie - A blind man can now see, but the sighted person next to them is now blind.

Granted. 3d printing of medical devices and brain microchips advance such that these people all get their senses and abilities. They quickly merge with machines by having excess memory in an external hard drive and sutured on personalities from the more advanced ai. Soon humanity is enslaved by the formerly blind, mute, deaf, and paralysed.

Granted. All humans were blind to undefinable-xxx. They now have the third eye seeing with clarity. The visions of cthulu quickly drive all of humanity to extinction.

Granted. All the organizations that train service dogs lose their funding and are forced to euthanize the dogs.
