    What was their end game? I mean what were they gaining by holding onto the bodies?

      The only thing I can think of is taking the money for performing the burials. Families pay top dollar for a “green” burial and then they just stash the body and the basement and keep the profit. Seems like they should have found a way to bury the bodies to avoid this whole thing. Or mental illness?

        Funerals should not be a for profit thing. You get preyed on by companies from even before birth all the way to after your death and even beyond (cemetary plot rental fees). When humans die, they should be buried naked in the ground with no embalming. That is the greenest, cheapest, hygienic and most energy conserving method of disposing a dead body. Death should not be masked by formalin and corpse paint.
