Over the past 20 years I’ve acquired (and lost) a lot of circular needles. I did give interchangeables a try at one point, but somehow all that remains is a single matching pair of Denise needles.
For a while I used a big binder full of binder pouches for storage, but it was bulky, so I made this instead. I used handheld pipe cutters to cut lengths of 1 inch PVC pipe, glued them together and hung it on the back of a closet door hook with a cotton cord.
It is not the most visually appealing, but it works for me, and it sounds like a rainstick . The short pipes mostly have 16” and some 20/24”. The longer pipes are mostly 40” (I prefer magic loop, so I’ve got a bunch). Not pictured here are the many needles stuck in unfinished projects, lol.
Buying interchangable needles was a huge game changer for my organization ability - they replace both circular and straight needles. Between those and dpns, I never need to buy needles unless I break or lose something.
Here is a pic of my diy dpn storage in case anyone is looking for inspiration.
I wish I was responsible enough for interchangeables :). I can’t actually see a photo at your link, though.
Aargh Imgur is being dysfunctional.
Those are really pretty dpn pouches. I should look into doing something nice like that. So many of my dpns have ended up in the kitchen where they are used as cake testers :)
The honest answer is that I don’t, and they’re everywhere, and my life is a mess. But perhaps you have inspired me to get this one thing under control at least, so thank you 😅
Dang, I felt that in my soul. I just ate a dry corn tortilla because I can’t seem to get my grocery act together and only half my lawn is mowed :)
Last weekend my husband went on a trip and by day 3 was actually checking up to make sure I’d eaten real food rather than just treats. Yeah, I get you lol.
I have a set of circular needles with interchangeable needles and lengths of wire/nylon. It all fits in a little case the size of a small notebook. I have a second set of sock size ones that are a bit sturdier and have steel needles instead of wood/bamboo.
I just have a set of storage drawers and keep them organized in ziplock bags. I have to root around to find what I’m looking for but at least they’re neatly packaged up.
That’s a great idea and great work! I think I’ve seen a similar system in a Roxanne Richardson’s video iirc. I have interchangeables so I use their own storage cases, but I have a few circs in smaller sizes that I always loose in project bags and boxes. I should do something about it…
