That and deus ex machina named Jarlaxle, he’s a god damn swiss army knife of plot resolution. Shit, in a live VR QA with R.A. Salvatore, he even said as much, that when he doesn’t know how to resolve a plot he leans on Jarlaxle.

To be fair I have a 5lb panther that can easily do 1d4 damage pouncing on me in my sleep.

so what you’re telling me is that rangers should be doing 120d4 of damage every time they send in the cats

I used to play a high level monk and had, I don’t even remember now, but something like 20-30 attacks per turn. Rolling for all that was bad enough. If you were playing with actual dice rolling 120d4 would give everyone else a chance to go to the store every time you took a turn.

I read those stories like 20 years ago. Good to see them coming up again! Is he still writing?

I think so. I’m in the same boat as you. Last book of his I bought when it came out was the silent blade.

Dude you just tickled a part of my brain I haven’t thought about Ina long time. These books filled a ton of empty time at a call center job back in the day.

Funny when that happens. I think I set them down in 2000 and never picked them up again.

His Canticle series is pretty good tbf
