Global heat deaths are projected to increase by 370% if action is not taken to limit the effects of global warming, according to a study published Tuesday in The Lancet, a medical journal.

If average global temperatures reach 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels — as is expected without drastic action — an additional 524.9 million people are also expected to experience food insecurity, aggravating the global risk of malnutrition.

The study, The Lancet Countdown, is in its eighth iteration and draws on the expertise of 114 scientists and health practitioners from 52 research institutions and U.N. agencies worldwide. It found that human-caused climate change is making health-threatening temperatures more frequent, especially in the U.S.

The problem is, literally everyone reading this is thinking, “that’s going to suck for them.”

And they probably haven’t even realized that immigration is going to intensify due to all the people fleeing the extreme heat. Or that they’ll likely be one of the immigrants…

Global heat deaths will quadruple even if we stopped today. It will take 20 additional years to see it level off and possibly reverse.

There’s absolutely zero chance of this occurring due to damage to the economy, outbreak of wars from countries trying to force other countries to stop, etc.

As flight attendants would say, “BRACE! BRACE! BRACE!”

Imagine being a president that wants to get reelected and win popular opinion. If that president took away millions of jobs that caused global warming damage, voters would just elect the guy to bring those jobs back.

There’s no winning here, just suffering.
