No one’s missing much, I’ve eaten frog twice, once in the US and once in France.

it lacks much flavor and is somewhat like chicken in that department, but the meat has a weird greasy, slimey, oily texture thing to it that really puts me off.

That being said, if you get the opportunity to try alligator, treat yo’ self. Fried alligator bites > chicken wings.

Like many ingredients its more about preparing them right.

Its been 10 years ago since the Chinese restaurant my family liked was closed. We still talk about how absolutely amazing the frog legs where. Sometimes when eating asian we may even get triggered of a specific taste we recognize as must have been included with the frog legs.

Lots of garlic, umami and spring onion were pretty sure off but there not enough to recreate that disg.

Alligator is really underrated, absolutely delicious.

Really?? I tried it twice in FL… one touristy place, one locals place. Both times I hated the texture. Tough.

Got almost the opposite experience here. Liked frog legs almost as much as chicken, but found both alligator meat and alligator jerky offputtingly fishy.

Have had both frog and alligator. Honestly, both taste essentially like chicken.

The rest of the world? Guess you don’t travel much, eating frog is normal in many Asian countries and even other European regions besides France.

For sure. We fry them though. That’s what makes them good.

The only times I’ve ever had frog legs was at Chinese buffets.

In China they often cook the rest of the frog too. Spicy frog hotpot is pretty good but I find it a little off putting when you get a bony little hand.

I know it’s kinds of a meme but they do actually taste like chicken. If you’ve even eaten chicken wing and thought they just have too much meat on them, try frog legs instead

Chicken already doesn’t taste great unless you do a lot of stuff to it. Plain it’s pretty boring. I can’t imagine eating something that tastes similar with a lot more effort.

        Maybe get some better chicken.

Properly raised (and cooked) chicken is very tasty. No need to add anything.
