I started reading this after seeing your posts about it for a while now (up to chapter 30) and it has been cute. What had kept me away originally is that on its surface this series sounds similar to others in which the MC has some kind of savior complex with the female character (apothecary and the ragged elf, my childhood friend was broken, classmate covered in bruises, etc.). However, so far, it’s been a pretty wholesome story. Looking forward to the rest.
I actually did the same thing.
I knew it existed but I didn’t bother with it because I expected it to be just a shallow rip-off of a current trend.
But then the current scanlator jumped in on it, starting from the beginning and redoing all of the existing chapters, plus a bunch more, and released like 30 of them all at once. That was when I decided that there must be more to it than I expected, and I read all those chapters in one sitting, and have been hooked ever since.
I think a lot of what I like about it is that the focus is pretty much all on Ri-chan. It’s not so much that Tatsu rescues her as that he just gives her the support, and a bit of a push, so that she does what she’s always been able to do. It’s all her - she just needed someone to believe in her enough to give her the confidence to really try. And that’s exactly what he does.
