An actual “opportunity” would be to register the current war as a complete and utter willing failure in de-escalation, intelligence and peacebuilding by the current regime and have it replaced. Properly replaced. Bibi in jail for life replaced. Then maybe after 10-20 years of painful concessions and diplomacy some real peace may begin.

Invading a modern, prepared country is actually quite difficult, and none of Israel’s neighbors are exactly military powerhouses. If the US pulled all of our aid tomorrow (God, I WISH), Israel would have domestic political problems, but could still maintain its military spending at the cost of either moderate tax rises (to the chagrin of the right-wing) or moderate cuts to benefits (to the chagrin of what passes for the left anymore). Even if it decided to go it with the reduced budget, Israel would still be a terribly tough nut to crack, at least in a war that threatened the existence of Israel.
Not saying they’d be successfully invaded, but incursions and barrages are going to increase. It’s not a good outcome for them in any way.
