About a year ago, I was unable to drink alcohol for medical reasons. So I dove into some recipes for non-alcoholic cocktails, and I wasn’t disappointed. There are loads of excellent non-alcoholic recipes that I enjoy just as much as their alcoholic counterparts.
This recipe is from the book Good Drinks:
- 1oz basil matcha syrup
- 1oz heavy cream or full-fat coconut milk
- 3/4 oz lime juice
- 3 oz soda water
- matcha for garnish
Shake syrup, cream, and juice with ice and strain into a Collins glass over ice. Add soda water carefully and garnish by sprinkling matcha powder on top.
Enjoy your Independence Day weekend!
Wow look at all that foam. Do you have a recipe?
Recipe is in the description. For the matcha basil syrup, I put 1.5 tsp of matcha, 1 cup of basil leaves, and 3/4 cup water in a blender until mostly smooth. Then I strain that mixture through a cheese cloth. Take the strained liquid and put in on the stove on med/low along with 1 cup of sugar. Stir until sugar has dissolved and funnel into your favorite jar!
Oops sorry to make you write that again, it seems the app I’m using doesn’t show post descriptions if there’s an image. But I see it on the web version. Sounds good though, I’ll have to give it a try!
Sounds delicious! I’m not normally a big matcha fan, but in n/a cocktails I actually do like it. Maybe it’s because they tend to be sweeter. Anyway, this sounds delicious and I’m going to have to make it soon!
