Seeing screenshots on various Discords of people’s Reddit apps no longer working, meanwhile Twitter quit working for anyone without an account earlier today. Interested in seeing if the fediverse actually takes off or if it peters out.

First comment on Lemmy. I imagine it’s going to be pretty niche for a long while, if it ever does take off. Just seems too complicated right now and doesn’t have a lot of outside support. But I think how it is right now is kind of refreshing. Just a whole bunch of people dedicated to trying something new.

The community desperately needs to move away from “protocol” this and “manual” that. And move toward QOL fixes for the average person. I love the idea of federated internet but it’s just so painful atm

My reddit app survived the shut downs, but it just doesn’t feel right to go anymore. Hopefully more people show up around these parts so we can have great conversation!

I hope it takes off. There are a lot of things that certainly need work for that to happen though. I had to try several different servers to actually get registered.

mastodon is sick if you need a twitter fix, and lemmy has been great. I advise checking out [email protected] to find plugins that might make your lemmy experience better

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll give those plugins a look.
