I’m curious if they have made any public statements on the topic. Now that the deprecation of MV2 is back on a schedule, a lot of Chromium forks will be affected by the change.

I’m a huge FLOSS and Firefox fan, but Arc’s UX is unparalleled in my view and I’ve switched for the time.

I can’t find anything on their website, YouTube, or Discord that makes a firm statement on the topic, but it would be very reassuring if they would or have.

A while back they made a YouTube video and casually mentioned that the board wanted them to create their own engine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJdx0BlP0iY&t=74s

Despite this nugget being the title of the video, they didn’t dive too deeply into this. My initial reaction to this was… “are they crazy? This is going to consume them. It’s no easy task at all.” Now I’m wondering if they have no choice.

I’ve had to stop using Arc because of their use of Chromium. I can’t stomach Google’s browser engine being on my system any longer. I hope they do something about this, because what Google is doing is outrageous.

Excellent. Thank you. It isn’t perfect, but it is something. I really wish there was a Firefox browser that was as good as the Arc interface. Floorp is still pretty buggy and the Firefox extensions driving at being “arc like” just aren’t there yet.

Built in Adblock is a solution, but I’d strongly prefer uBlock Origin’s MV2 implementation over probably anything they’ll implement.
