As the first post here’s a sneak peak to one of the plants that I could potentially swap:
- Common name: Pitcher Plant
- Genus: Sarracenia
- Species: Sarracenia purpurea (my best guess)
The biggest ones are currently about the size of a 50ml travel-size hand lotion
- honestly I’m surprised they even got this big cause of the climate I’m in :D
- posting from Canada🇨🇦 btw!

A couple of things to note is that these require:
- Sphagnum moss:
- (which can be controversial to get as some commercial extractions can destroy bogs, swamps, and wet grasslands).
- low pH (aka acidic like pop/juice)
- Distilled water:
- carnivorous plants tend to live in nutrient defficient environments so they mainly get their food via anything that falls prey to them and/or lots of sunlight/whatever light you can give it
I recently got a Venus flytrap and appreciate these tips.
A fellow Canadian :) 🇨🇦
