The vanced community is now rolling out a Patch do use our own API keys, and so, allow RiF to continue being used on reddit. Any of you tried this yet? (It’s 3:25am and i’m on my phone, so i couldt look too much into it)

You’re going to be banned from Reddit for doing that.

They don’t care about the user.

Inifinity (another APP) is managing to use reddit’s own official api key on their app as well.

…i sense guerilla tactics in the near future lol

If I absolutely need to use Reddit I’ll do so on my computer from now on. My mobile use will be 0%. I’m here now, for better or worse.

Same boat here. Reddit is now a 9 to 5 thing for me. Only at work, when bored, and woth uBlock on. Fuck Spez.

They obviously have other methods to see if you are actually not using the official app. Others can try to mimic the offical app but it’ll be an annoying cat and mouse game and they might just ban users that do it in the end…

    Got a link or anything?

I would continue supporting rif if it was just an app where I had to get my own API key to run.

Idk if the vanced community’s patch is different, but I’ve read a couple of “add your own API key”. They end with: it won’t take much for reddit to break this. Also, even with the new key, other stuff is broken. Not worth the effort IMHO.

    Rip the band-aid off now.
