Kinda embarrassed to ask but are there lower cost streaming alternatives to AppleTV+SeasonPass to watch matches at home?
The season pass is an incredible deal and it’s prorated to half price right now. There a ton of extra content that comes with it too. I know that’s not the answer you are looking for, but honestly the quality of the broadcasts is better than anything fox sports, Ballys, or espn have ever put out. Well worth it in my opinion. If you have T-mobile as a carrier, or are a season ticket holder to any team in the league, you can get it for free. If you are already an Apple TV+ subscriber you can get it a bit cheaper too.
More to your actual question though, some games are free on Apple tv weather you have a season pass or not. Additionally some games are simultaneously broadcast on FS1 or over the air on Fox or other channels. The MLS app should tell you if there are additional channels the game is going to be broadcast on. Lastly I’m sure there are other method should you choose to sail the high seas, but in my experience the quality is never really good, and most of those sites are cancer for your device.
It’s either pay Apple or watch only the free games. I had no luck finding other ways to watch.
Yeah MLS is exclusive to Apple plus now except for the games that are on free local channels like Fox, ABC, etc. There’s no other way to (legally) stream the games.
I’m including all ways to stream; if it’s an Apple exclusive then I haven’t found any way at all to stream. I went ahead and paid the $ to Apple and have enjoyed seeing the games live, without having a mad google session as the game began with a gazillion porn ads on sketchy sites to find the SkySports stream or wherever it would be available in previous years.
Wow haha. So I just found out that my wife already has an AppleTV+ subscription shared with me, so I guess I just have to shell out for the MLS add-on which is tolerable I guess. I was thinking last night that if I was to go out a sports bar/restaurant to watch every game I’d still be shelling out cash every time there as well.
Nevertheless, it looks like this Sunday’s game against Philly is free on AppleTV+ and broadcast on FoxFWIW, you don’t need Apple TV+ to get the MLS subscription – they’re independent of each other.
So uh would I just watch directly from the MLS website? When I visit its “watch” page, everything seems to direct me to AppleTV? Anyhow I guess I’m currently good with AppleTV+ since my wife is already paying for it… but maybe this might help for others
I’m not an AppleTV subscriber, I’m an MLS Season Pass subscriber. I can watch the ATL games, but I can’t watch Ted Lasso. They aren’t tied together other than both are serviced by Apple. There may be benefits of subscribing to both, but I don’t know what they are. ETA: in other words, you are not good to watch it via your wife’s AppleTV unless your wife is also a subscriber to MLS Season Pass.
Oh man. Thanks for all this info… but I can’t help feeling an overwhelming sense of old man yells at clouds vibe bubbling within me whenever I think about the state of tv these days
You’ll need to sign up for Apple TV (free), but you don’t need TV+.
From their website:
If you are already an Apple TV+ subscriber: $12.99/month or $39/season
If you are not an Apple TV+ subscriber: $14.99/month or $49/season
