I’m interested in what kind of people hang around in here since the community is so small and so new.

How do you spend your time in game? Are you a raidlogger with a static, or tend to chat in your FC? Grinding mounts, getting gil, buying a house? Any Eureka/Bozja enjoyers?

When did you start playing? What’s your favorite fight on any difficulty, or other content?

How many hours and characters do you have, are you on the free trial, leveling or looking for help and advice in game, or do you have your mentor crown already?

What region do you play on? What do you think of addons?

What (reddit or other) community did you come from / still use?

How much I play tends to vary from patch to patch. I have rather limited free time these days and so it can be difficult.

Primarily I play for the story. I absolutely love the story and I truly believe Shadowbringers and Endwalker had an impact on me as a person and gave me new perspectives on life. Just a beautifully told story, great characters, awesome themes, cannot say enough good about it.

However I’d hardly call myself a casual player. I enjoy raiding but haven’t managed to finish a full tier on patch yet, primarily due to time. My schedule isn’t very conducive to joining a static and I simply don’t have the time to prog via PF. I hope that one day I will finally finish a tier though lol. This past tier I got through P7S but it took me so long to finally find a PF that could clear 7 that 8 just wasn’t in the cards for me.

Aside from raiding I generally just derp around and relax. Decorating my house, doing my island sanctuary, mount hunting, crafting, nothing is really off limits. Most of the time I just pick some goal (like all tanks to 90) and go for it until I lose interest in the game and then I wait for the next patch.

If I do join back up I’ll probably resume my leveling of PRanged via finishing all side quests in the game. That was really fun for me : ) but atm I’ve been obsessed with learning chess so we’ll see when I pick my favorite game back up. If I just won my housing auction it’ll be more likely that I return lol. Part of why I lost interest is that during the break before 6.4 I went 60 days without logging in, lost my house, and proceeded to have like no inventory space. To my own surprise not having a house and being so inventory limited really hurt my own motivation to play.

I main Black Mage and I’d like to think I’m pretty decent at it, often parsing in the upper 80’s last tier. Been maining BLM since FFXI and it’s just comfy for me. FF is the only series that I think gets the idea of black mage correct.

    Came to Lemmy from reddit.

    Time to check the auction!

Here from reddit. Mostly hanging out on discord and lemmy now. Started last year and just chase whatever that catches my fancy. Still on f2p though. Plenty of arr and hw content to get through since I stopped playing for half a year.

Just under 3k hours… MSQ done, 90% of side quests too, all Tribals expect EW, Land/Hand classes at 90 along with 4 combat classes.

Currently working on leveling the rest to 90 (all are between 50-80) and trying to solo all three Deep Dungeons to 50 (PoTD done and I’m on 21-30 of HoH). I was heavy into Eureka for a while but only got to the third island and needed a break. I’ve tried Bozja a few times but it hasn’t “clicked” yet.

I’m on Hyperion, just grinding out XP or chasing achievements most days.

Casual player trying to make gil via crafting. I don’t do savage content as its hard for me to learn fights via videos and can’t get into a group (hard to commit to a static).

I just resub’d today since the mgp event is going on. Played the MSQ from start to finish (vanilla to endwalker) during the wow exodus period before dropping off for some single player stuff. Maxed all of my crafting and gathering jobs but never did much that would be called difficult.

Thinking I might have to learn a new job and finally give some of the raids and trials I never did a try.

I’m still clearing MSQ, just started Shadowbringers

Not sure what I’ll do finished that, probably farm mouts and join a FC to try some savages

I started playing around 3 years ago but left because life happened

Don’t need addons even though some QOL wouldn’t hurt

Casual player who enjoys the gameplay, but is mostly here for the story. Currently unsubbed since Endwalker, but I still hang out with FFXIV friends and am super hype for the supposed next expansion announcement in the upcoming fan fest.

Am hoping this place gets a bit busier. I do a bit of everything in the game, but all rather casually. Have been doing so since stormblood. Originally in elemental, now in materia.

Idk about favourite fights, there were so many that are favourites for different reasons. Be it the mechanics, the story, the music.

Too many characters, two with all jobs at 90 and mentor crowns.

I think it’s great that add-ons exist, it’s great to see the community make improvements to the game interface, that the developers take on board.

I used to be on r/ffxiv, but I’m off reddit now.

    hello there ^^

I’m someone who plays pretty much every day, doing all kinds of things in game. I’m in a static with some of my FC, and we are progging this tier entirely blind (for the fun of discovery and theory-crafting strategies). We raid every night for 3-5 hours a night. This is my first time ever doing high end content though! I’m really enjoying it. I play summoner and flex to scholar and I usually parse around 80th percentile, and I’m always trying to improve.

I’m an omnicrafter, and I spend some time crafting gear and consumables for my FC and friends, otherwise just crafting to make money. I have a large house but it’s only half decorated due to lack of inspiration…

I started playing in Nov 2019, and now I have over 7000 hours in the game, though honestly, most of it has been spent just sitting and chatting with friends or doing FC things. I used to run my own FC, though recently I have switched to a new FC where I’m an admin now, so that takes up much of my time!

I have just one character (that I actually use) and I have mentor, not that it really means much besides that I’ve played for a while, though I love helping other players out however I am able to.

I play on the NA data center Crystal.

I think addons are a great thing for the game, and I personally love being able to tweak and customize my game experience with lots of little quality of life things.

I come from the reddit ffxiv community and I’m hopeful that this community grows and can fill the same niches that the subreddits do.

Right now I’m in soft-break until probably 6.45, so I’m mostly just doing dailies and weeklies and occasional crafting. Normally I’m playing new content or doing completionist-ish stuff. I don’t raid though, not a big appeal for me – but that’s about the only section of content in the game I think I haven’t really done much with. Right now I’ve been running the subs at my FC to keep occupied.

I started playing around 5.4, and caught up with MSQ between 5.45 and 5.5. It’s hard for me to pick favorites in terms of content… I finished my card mount grind a couple months back, which gave me a good excuse to try just about everything at least a little bit. FFXIV claims I have about 195 days of playtime. I’m definitely not a sprout anymore though I look back at those first few months very fondly.

I play on Brynhildr; I don’t use add-ons but I don’t judge those that do. I appreciate that add-ons are pushing SE to add useful features/QoL adjustments for everyone.

My main source of info is r/ffxiv and a variety of Discord servers, though I’m hoping this community can grow bigger over time so I can fully disconnect from Reddit eventually.

I mostly play for raiding since this game has the best raiding of any MMO I’ve played. I’ve also been playing Final Fantasy games forever, so it’s nice to continue that in a different way. I also do a ton of side content, with Blue Mage being my favorite.

I started playing just before ShB came out. My favorite fight is probably DSR.

Add-ons are great since they can fix a lot of QoL issues with the dated/clunky UI.

I started playing around patch 2.2. I eventually got into EX and savage raids, and I did that for several years. Now, I’m playing much more casually, taking my time to enjoy some of the other things in the game that I haven’t messed with before or started and never finished. I finally finished all my field notes in Bozja so I could get the FFXII mount. I have also started randomly working on the chocobo races and breeding because it’s something I barely touched before, outside of the weekly challenge log for MGP.

My favorite fight? I have a lot of fond memories of T5. Even though I didn’t beat it when it was relevant at the time, it was the first time I really dabbled in the raiding scene, and nothing prepared me from being tossed in the air to twisters, getting yeeted into a wall of death by divebomb, or being absolutely demolished by a dreadknight. Fun times.

I play on Gilgamesh. As far as add-ons go, I appreciate them, and I’m happy to see some of the QoL add-ons getting implemented into the game. I was a big fan of party icons as well as party buffs/debuff timers, so I’m glad everyone now has access to them. I’m hoping to see chat bubbles added next.

I came from Reddit, but now I just hangout on kbin and Mastodon. I’m in some discord ones, but I mainly just lurk on those.

Joined during the pandemic lockdowns to keep myself sane, was a pretty intense raider for a while, even doing ultimates, but since going back to the office I mainly just do Roulettes and some Deep Dungeons, occasionally doing Extremes and trying out the Savages.
