Still wish there were public PVE servers. I want the possibility of running into other players and just chilling out with them. Instead we get a glorified demo mode or a gank% speedrun mode.
That and ships with more than 4 people per
Rare insists they can’t due to the pvp balance and I feel like most people who want to play it don’t have any interest in fighting sweatlords as much as they want to pretend to be pirates with their friends
Oh but don’t you get it? The game isn’t fun if we can’t kill each other on sight! I, one of the remaining players who enjoys killing people on sight (thus making any pacifists lose interest immediately) am the only one who knows how to have fun with this game!

I really wanted to like Sea of Thieves, but I’m just not into multiplayer stuff much these days. I wish it had a true single player mode. The atmosphere and setting are so good, but alas.
It can be fun to play alone.
I had a very stressful moment where I was trying to escape a crew by myself in a boat fuel of loot for 30 minutes and when I thought I was in the clear they found me on an island, attacked me and set my boat on fire but I did the same to theirs!
Also killing a Kraken alone was pretty crazy!
I second this, and with private servers you essentially do have a singleplayer experience.
Queue up the server side modding scene then!
This is a great move for a games long-term playability and preservation.
As I understand it this is not true private servers and the article is somewhat misleading. This is a game mode that lets you play in a solo or friends-only lobby without other players, still hosted on the official servers though. Unfortunately the “private” game mode will be severely limited and will slow down your progression and lock you out of many activities in the game, in their effort to force people into the open PvP mode.
