Had some issues posting via Memmy so I lost the body. Additional details are:

C: is a 240gb ssd with windows on it F: is another 240gb with games G: is a non-ssd 3tb hdd with games, movies etc

I’m upgrading C: to a 2tb ssd, and have another 4tb ssd I would like to use instead of F: and G:.

Can I save my games and movies and genera data? Or will I have to mostly redownload/install apps and games?

You can search for ‘Clone hard disk’ to find some software like EaseUS or Acronis.

C drive should be straightforward to clone, then designate the new hard disk as your C and everything should work fine.

Cloning F and G into one drive could be trickier because one drive designation will be changed, and your original pathing might not read correctly.

I would reinstall Windows, especially if the current installation is old. As long as you can connect all the drives to your computer, you can move files from the old disks. If the games on F: and G: are on Steam or Epic (and other similar launchers probably works similarly), it’s easy to move the games around using those launchers. Games that have been installed outside of such launchers might not work if they are moved to a disk with different drive designation or if they are moved to a new Windows installation.

Thanks, that’s the route I ended up going. Managed to save what I needed and was able to start fresh.

Honestly your setup is a bit complicated. I think the easiest thing you could do is clone your Windows drive to the new SSD and then manually move the other stuff over. If your games are on Steam, then that should be easy, but if it isn’t then you’d probably just have to reinstall them.

Yeah it got more complicated over the years of me just adding additional storage. Hoping this simplifies things. Thanks for your suggestions!
