I’ve played about 270 hours since patch 1 was released, and probably watched twice that in livestreams. Trying not to get burned out on EA before the release at the end of August. At least we are getting closer!
Sounds like they will be making some significant changes to the early content currently available when released, which is nice.
Have you bought the game already? Played it? Ordered the collectors edition?
I’m waiting for the release. I still have other games to play in the meantime. I generally like to wait and see how stable a game is before getting it.
That’s smart. Lots of people are, and while I wouldn’t go back, I’m jealous of the experience you’re going to get when you do. The game has been so rock solid for me through each patch, it wasn’t until just now I considered it might have issues on release. It very well could.
What are you playing now?
I’ve been full on into the game since I purchased EA the other week. It’s already fantastic and really scratches the DA:O itch I didn’t even know I had so I am counting down the days to full release!
What caused you to purchase it when you did? Most people seemed to have gotten it long ago or are holding out like @spirals is.
But you are right, it’s already fantastic!
Circumstance really! We’ve just built a new pc and that was my convenient excuse to get the game to “test the system out.” I didn’t realize until the summer games fest last week that it will be releasing for consoles as well (tbh though I think I prefer the pc for this type of gameplay).
What GPU did you settle on in these weird times? I need to build a new rig before the game launches.
Running on 2xGTX970s at 4k currently and want much better performance.
We went with the GTX4070TI since that was what was available locally when we wanted to do the build lol. I am curious to see how the choice plays out down the line with the VRAM limitations but currently (and certainly for the types of games I play) it is more than sufficient.
I loved all the DA games, even DA2. I’m afraid the next one, Dreadwolf has lost the sparkle for me, from what I’ve seen; I mostly follow Jackdaw on the subject. I miss the real time with pause from DA, and struggle with the action economy in BG3. One of the reasons I’m glad I started early with it. I’ve always wanted to but never really played any tabletop.
Jackdaw is great! I am a (relatively) late joiner to the DA fandom (introduced through DAI, Mass Effect is my great love) and I was obsessed in my first playthrough. In my most recent replay, yeah, some of it’s sparkle has definitely faded. It’s funny because I remember hating DAO gameplay when I first tried it but the style has grown on me a lot - I also have been habitually trying to pause BG3 so I feel your pain!
