Two minutes ago, I decided to clean up the post-Reddit mess on my phone.

I uninstalled RIF, because I use Wefwef now.

I uninstalled kbin, because I use Wefwef now.

Lots of icons disappeared from my launcher. Oops.

In my haste, I failed to notice that kbin is not an app, but actually a browser app like Wefwef. So I did not uninstall kbin - in fact I uninstalled Firefox! And with that, I lost all my launcher shortcuts, all my open tabs, and all my browser apps ( including kbin but also including Wefwef).

I really don’t know all the stuff I lost that way but hey, if. I don’t miss it then maybe that’s okay?

      All of my OPEN TABS!

… TIFU twice by not proof-reading my post. Do we have a community /c/thankyouautocorrect yet?

Now I am trying to figure out how to edit my post 😅

Valid point. We all use the bathroom break as browsing time, right?

Reddit tifu sub often involved stories of defecation and pee. So it makes sense you lost your pee tabs.

    I feel your pain friend.

A little off topic, but I was also a RiF user and wanted a rif like experience for a lemmy. So far I’ve tried Jerboa for Lemmy (don’t really like that one) and wefwef (it’s OK, but not RiF like). I’ve started using Connect for Lemmy and when you change the settings to reverse list view, it’s very similar to RiF. Might be worth checking out.

        The name is so off-putting.

        edit:
I’m one of the more whimsical dudes I know and I don’t mind disagreement so I’m pretty open to whatever - but please tell me why jubjub.wingdang is something you want to see several hundred times a day.

Am I missing something? Does wefwef actually mean something, or is it just typical techbrand nonsense? We have gone PAST Idiocracy at this point.

For some background… I’m a grumpy fucker. wefwef can do better. This is an interview about how the brands in Idiocracy were designed.

I’m sick and tired of bullshit neosyllabic names that a baby would make:

        • Goo-gle
        • Et-sy
        • Zyn-ga
        • Kag-gle
        • Hu-lu
        • Ven-mo
        • Ya-hoo

I don’t want to “eeh-ohh” or “lee” your goddamn name:

        • Branch.eeo
        • Keen.eeo
        • Card.eeo
        • Cook.eeo
        • Fluent.eeo
        • Parse.lee
        • Visual.lee

Dropped vowels are equally annoying to me:

        • Flickr
        • Tumblr
        • Grindr
        • Scribd
        • HatchetHaro

It’s just a name, so does it really matter? Sometimes people just want to make a good app and sometimes they want to be funny and name it something entirely nonsensical. Maybe you don’t like the name, and that’s okay! I love that name for precisely the same reasons, and it’s just fun to say.

wefwef.app is a kind of Apollo clone but for Lemmy instead. It’s also PWA only as far as I know so not a real app but a website that you can install as an “app”.

I’m just discovering it. Looks and fells really like Apollo. Great stuff, hopefully it will become a real app soon.

Sometimes it’s liberating to clear out all the old tabs, and start a fresh!

Truly sucks to accidentally trigger an uninstall cascade. Though on the brightside, at least you got to spring-clean your open tabs haha

    Reminded me of this:
