If you’re looking for a new place to hang out, here it is.
Something something pork roll versus Taylor ham. Am I doing that right?
Just kidding. Stoked to be here!
Call it whatever you’d like. Just don’t say scrapple.
Happy to have you.
Checking in from Central Jersey. Do I even exist? Regardless, Taylor ham.
That’s mighty existential of you.
Thanks for joining.
My wife’s sister and her family moved from Staten Island to NJ (Monmouth) about 20 years ago. Their (at the time) small child was a bit upset about the change. So they sold the entire thing as, “We’re going to live in JERSEYLAND! Isn’t that exciting! The deer walk right through the yard! They have real grass!” It actually helped make the kid look forward to it. To this day, we still call it Jerseyland when we go to visit.
I live in Rockland county NY. I feel we are more geographically and socially more NJ than NJ for a few reasons.
[] We are isolated from the rest of NYS by a large park on one side and a wide river on the other - but connect directly to Montvale, Northvale, and Mahwah.
[] Our suburban spawl visually resembles Bergen more than Westchester or Orange.
[] Our mass transit to NYC is the NJTransit trains.
[] Great big malls.
[] We both have the PIP and GSP.
[] We have Ramapo, you have Lakewood.
Anyone have thoughts on this?
We would be happy to have Rockland County join NJ! My first beers sitting at a bar was at the Orangeburg Pub when I was 17, back in 1979!
Now, if you could convince your governor to let you secede, we’re in business!
I hate to ask… What is your opinion of Staten Island? I rescued my wife from there.
So you’re from Bergen! My first real job was in Northvale. There was (still is?) a place off {Pegasus} (corrected to Paris) with the GIANT satellite dishes. Back in '82 or so.
I have some mildly interesting stories from that place.
Lived in Bergen for most of my life. Always considered Palisades, Harriman State Park, Nanuet (had classes there), as part of NJ in a way… since I went there all the time.
