Does anyone remember when being a Chad meant something negative?
Pepperidge Farm® remembers
It doesn’t anymore??? I thought it was still used mockingly.
I think it’s more tone- and context-dependent these days. Like being a Chad is a good thing. But being a Chad is a bad thing.
But I view it all 100% through the scope of irony.
Virgin vs Chad memes on 4chan, right?
I think it’s one of those cases where people started using it ironically and then it got mainstream and the original meaning was forgotten.
It seems that barely no meme uses it ironically anymore.
Kind of. It’s always been used to refer to stereotypical popular buff dudes that get all the girls. It’s just that gradually went from something just whinny 4chan man-chikdren use as insult to cope. To something normal(ish) people use so the connotation behind being a popular muscular dude that’s popular with women went from a bad thing to a good thing.

God I hate untagged YouTube links. You think you’re clicking on an image or an article, but nope! And now YouTube thinks you watched a random video and your recommendations get infected with garbage outside of your normally watched channels
There are plenty of ways to check a link before you click on it. Hover over, long press and copy, or view source.
If you don’t want to ever click on YouTube links then set your device to block them. That’s your responsibility.
Here is an alternative Piped link(s):
One of the very few almost rectangular countries.
Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.
