Yeah, but potatoes burnt, particularly that way, are still yummy most of the time, assuming you like charred flavors at all
Even if you don’t you can still apply ketchup (or your choice of sauce) liberally until it is just a sauce delivery system.
It’s not burned, you added brown flavours.
Why wouldn’t you? Those burnt sugars add extra flavour. 😀
