Bethesda has laid out some of its plans for Starfield in 2024, including mod support and its first “major” expansion.
Just like Cyberpunk 2077, I will wait for this game to be worked on and get it for a discount later. I learned my lesson long time ago, not to buy big AAA games at launch.
Same. I think cyberpunk is almost done, so I’ll probably grab it when it gets down to half off. We’ll see if Starfield is any good after they finish it in 5 years or so.
Too late
Cyberpunk and No Man’s Sky prove it’s never too late.
For the things they clearly tried to do but couldn’t do in their engine, it’s too late. For the quest designs that either need to be ripped out or replaced with something dramatically different in the pursuit of being engaging content (this is not every quest, for the record), it’s too late. For the conversation system where you feel every year that they’ve been reusing the same code, it’s too late.
My point may not have been clear. But I was trying to make reference to vast swathes of gamers who continually parrot the “It’s good now” line after each update.
Oh, definitely went over my head. But Cyberpunk for sure ended up being pretty great. To be perfectly honest, I skirted by most of the launch issues for whatever reason, so I had a good experience with it back then too.
If they learn anything from cyberpunk and no man’s sky, it’ll be a decent game in a few years.
That’s what I was hoping for Fallout 76 a long time ago, but alas.
I dont think you can fix the limitations of a 15 year old engine with patches. I didn’t buy it but I watched my friends who did stream it from start to finish. I am 100% sure these NPCs are operating off of Oblivion code.
It’s 70 buckaroos
@BruceTwarzen in that case it’s definitely not worth it lol.
The 6 people playing will be pumped
Bethesda’s inability to finish a game and leave it the fuck alone is going to drive me to avoid their products on principle soon.
I’ve put over 60 hours into the game. It’s not the best game of its kind, but it’s no Outer Worlds.
Introducing paid mods is something I don’t support but I’m interested to see what things look like when it launches on Starfield.
That aside, I hope they take the empty world complaints to heart, if they can make the world more full I am willing to return to the UC Shitcan and fight for my citizenship.
I’ve got over 100 hours in and all the trophies, nothing left in the base game for me, I’m not doing 10 playthroughs with 1 character though.
